Dr. Sunita Bhatia has trained in Kathak from the
age of seven under Usha Sharma in Winnipeg’s Jhankaar
School of Dance, with advanced training in Agra,
India under Guru Kalicharran Sharma.
She has also studied Bharata Natyam with Menaka
Thakkar of Toronto from 1981 to 1989, with additional
abhinaya tutelage from Kalanidhi Narayan. She
performed her Bharata Natyam Arangatram in 1989.
Noted for her precision and delicate expression
in both styles of dance, Sunita has performed
with Manohar since 1991. Her roles with Manohar
include Meera in the original Reflections of Krishna,
Vali in Vali Kaliyanam, Krishna in Krishna Priya,
and Senior Court Dancer in La Bayadère - The Temple
Dancer.
At present, Sunita is pursuing advanced training
in Kathak in Ottawa under the guidance of Guru
Saveeta Sharma of Upasana the Spirit of Dance.
